Death Doula Care
Engaging with Death and Aliveness
The Gift of Death
Death is an opening—a portal, much like childbirth. Entering the death portal is a natural process; our bodies innately know how to die. Yet, as with birth, we often need gentle guidance and support.
The ‘work’ of death and dying is presence and opening. Opening to what truly matters, to the greater forces of life moving through us, and to what lies beyond this body and this world.
Death, like grief, can bring us home to ourselves, both for those who are dying and for the loved ones who remain. In meeting death with openness, we often discover more aliveness: moments of beauty, joy, healing, and grace.
From the ground of stillness and silence, the vastness of death, we find the impetus to open to life in ways we never have before. This is the gift of death.

Animal Death Doula Support
When someone has a bond with an animal, it can be even deeper than a bond to a human—We open our hearts more widely to animals.
Losing a beloved animal companion can be devastating, and bring up other places of undigested grief and loss. It can also be a profound opportunity to meet grief and death with openness, leading to more love, fulfillment, and aliveness.
Death Cafe Taos
This Death Cafe is a community gathering space to openly discuss death. We hold death with a deep, joyful reverence for life. We will set and hold the container for the evening. Everyone will be invited to arrive and ground into the space, introduce themselves, we’ll enjoy tea and cake, and then a group discussion will be lightly guided. This will be based on the interests of those present.
At the end of our lives don’t we want to
say we celebrated the holiday of having bodies?
Don’t we want to know we lived like we never forgot
we were born astonished and were never intended
to grow out of our awe?
~ Andrea Gibson, The Life Giving Benefits of Befriending our Mortality
